Adding ViaTour to New Computers

1 Be sure the proper version of Access is installed (if all users are not in same version and same service  - slow downs may occur!)

2 Be sure you have correct permissions to the shared data file (read-write-delete)

3 On the new computer and in Explorer browse to the shared drive where data resides and open the folder called SetUp.

4 Select the file called Viatour.mde and right click and select COPY
NOTE: Easiest view to work in is DETAILS. Go to View and Details. If you can't see the extension ".mde" go to Tools - Folder Options- View Tab and un-check the box "Hide extension for known File Types. "
Click apply and close to get back to Explorer window. 

5 On the new computer create a folder with this EXACT path: C:\Viatour 

6 Paste the .mde file so you have: C:\Viatour\Viatour.mde

7 Launch the application from C:\ViaTour folder by double clicking on the Viatour.mde file and log in with a user name (type First Name + Last Name. Letter From name is added in Code Table)

8 Close the application using EXIT button on bottom right or the "X"

9 Browse in Explorer to C:\Viatour and open the ViaTour.ini file. It should look exactly like this:

AttachLocs=?:\ViaTour\ViatourData.mdb  (where ? = your shared letter drive. Sometimes you have other folders in between Drive letter and ViaTour Folder, that is fine."

DefaultDataPath= ?:\ViaTour\ ViatourData.mdb
[AppSettings]
AppLastName= ViaTour Tour Management Software
AppFileName=ViaTour.mde

10 Now create a short cut for the Launch. Go to  C:\ViaTour\Viatour.mde , right click on C:Viatour\ViaTour.mde and select "create shortcut".

11 Drag from C:\Viatour the Short Cut to Viatour.mde onto your desktop

12 Select short cut, right click and select rename - type  "ViaTour"

13 Select shortcut and right click and select Properties. The TARGET should say C:\Viatour\ViaTour.mde. Do not close yet!

14 While in Properties window click on the Change Icon button. Click on the Browse Button and browse to the ?:\Viatour\Setup\VT_Launch.ico

15 Click, apply, OK and close the short cut properties box. (This will change the icon to the ViaTour Globe)

16 Create a short cut for the Update Icon.  There should be a short cut in your set up folder for Update  file (Update.BAT - I think). Again you rename and choose a new icon for the target.
