Best Practices

1) Be sure data file is backed up regularly.
2) Close forms when you are finished.
3) Close reports. If you leave a report open, when you run it again, the old one opens (not refreshed with data or new criteria.)
4) Close ViaTour application each day, so when back ups do run there is no ViaTour.LDB file
5) Compact and repair data files every 2 to 3 months. (ADMIN PERSON ONLY)
a. All users out of VT and NO ldb file visible in shared server
b. Copy ViaTourData.mdb (database container) and rename the copy with the date.
c. Open the ViaTour Data.MDB file (not the copy- the original) by double clicking it.
d. Open Tools - Database Utilities - Compact and Repair then WAIT until it is done.
e. Close database container by clicking on X.
6) Report errors or when data is not presenting properly.
